Welcome
to Ladakh
Pioneer Edition
The One Hundred® Ladakh, Trail to Heaven is not just a race – it is a pilgrimage into the sacred silence of the Himalayas, a bold and daring odyssey carved into the canvas of the Earth’s roof. As a Pioneer Edition, race number 0 of the One Hundred Premier Race Series, and standing at 100 miles, it marks a rare and historic moment in the evolution of endurance sports, a gateway to a world where the air is thin, the spirit soars, and the mountains whisper ancient secrets.
Set amidst the raw, untamed majesty of the Great Himalayas – along the windswept Markha River, from Leh to Stok – this race is more than a test of endurance; it is a communion with the elements, a dance with destiny, and a tribute to the indomitable human spirit. In Ladakh, where the sky meets the earth and the mountains stand as timeless sentinels, runners will trace paths once walked by Silk Road traders, monks, and wanderers – each step a reminder of the beauty, fragility, and awe-inspiring power of nature’s greatest masterpiece.
Scheduled between the 7th and 9th of August 2025, this inaugural Pioneer Edition invites a select few to step into the unknown, to write their names in the snow and dust of the high desert, and to etch their stories into the living memory of the mountains. It is a rare moment in time – a chance to experience the birth of a legend, to stand at the threshold of a new chapter in endurance sports, and to help shape the future of trail racing in this extraordinary region. Full activation and global registrations for the first official edition of the Ladakh Trail to Heaven will open for the 2026 race, edition #1, as we lay the foundations for what promises to become one of the world’s most iconic endurance races on the planet.
The Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh is a geological and cultural wonder – a place where the earth’s bones are laid bare, and the air carries the prayers of centuries past. The name 'La-dakh' translates in English to 'the land of the high passes,' and this land is exactly that: a place of staggering altitude and breathtaking beauty. Inhabited by a unique mix of locals and people of Central Asian descent, Ladakh has been a crossroads of cultures for millennia – a gateway for caravans traversing the ancient Silk Road, linking the Indian subcontinent to Central Asia.
Most of Ladakh lies above 3500 meters (11,500 ft), and its peaks soar beyond 7000 meters (23,000 ft), where oxygen thins and time itself seems to stretch. The rich culture, the timeless landscapes, and the elemental force of high altitude make Ladakh a place like no other on Earth—a sacred testing ground for the human spirit, and a natural stage for an endurance challenge that is as much about inner transformation as it is about physical conquest.
